Many cats react to Matatabi (the vine of the Silvervine plant) even if they show little interest to catnip. A 2017 scientific study found 70% of cats had a reaction to catnip, however over 80% of cats had a reaction to silvervine, with many cats enjoying both!
- Most cats react with kitten like behaviors such as playing with toys, rolling, rubbing, licking, or catching a case of the zoomies.
- Other cats will react in more subdued way, becoming more relaxed and chilling out in a dreamlike state.
- Use a small pinch on a favorite toy, scratching post, or wherever you want to encourage play.
How is it made?
To make our natural Silvervine Powder, we finely grind up the dried gall fruits of an ivy like plant called the Actinindia Polygama that is native to the mountains of Eastern Asia. Although relatively unknown in Northern America, the silver vine plant is more popularly used in Japan and China than traditional catnip among cat owners!

The large size tin is 2 fl oz and contains 22 grams of silvervine powder. The small size tin is 1 fl oz and contains 12 grams of silvervine powder.
- Effects will last anywhere from 5-30 minutes.
- Cats usually begin to respond when they are past 6 months of age, though some may sooner.

we had no clue what silvervine even was until we bought a pack of toys that came with bonus 5 strange little sticks. at which point we actively sought out and bought a package of 50 sticks lol.
the powdered fruit was surprising and new, and so of course we had to try it. the two dingdongs absolutely love it, should this even be street-legal?
rather than sprinkle it on toys, I just dusted a pinch onto both of them and they went nuts.
